Celebrating 50 Years of Title IX and Women’s Equity with the 19th News Summit
The conversation around hard-won achievements that have opened doors and created more equitable opportunities for women in American society has never been more urgent. Thus, The Impact Seat Foundation is proud to have sponsored this year’s 19th News Hybrid Summit: 50 Years of Title IX. This summit covered a range of topics including the gender pay gap, discrimination in maternal healthcare, protections for LGBTQ+ students, and more. The 19th News event, which took place both online and off, featured incredible keynote speakers like Senator Elizabeth Warren(D-MA) and WNBA star Candance Parker.
In addition to sponsoring the event, our CEO Cheryl Contee had the privilege of introducing Senator Warren’s opening keynote. In her keynote, Sen. Warren touches on her experience as a teacher during a pre-Title IX era, and the ways Title IX has impacted our country for the better.

The 19th News is an independent, nonprofit newsroom reporting on gender, politics and policy. They believe that the 19th amendment is unfinished business, as many women, specifically women of color, remained excluded from the ballot box for generations. The 19th provides resources, information, and a space to learn and find community specifically for women of color and the LGBTQ+ community so that they can be equal participants in our democracy.
At The Impact Seat Foundation, we chose to sponsor the 19th News as we share the same passion make the world a more inclusive place for women, especially women of color, to excel in leadership. Today’s working women deserve to have their voices and their work succeed. We were honored to be a part of this year’s summit, and we’re thrilled to support the continued important efforts of The 19th News.
